US Crime Review

A public crime analytics website for reviewing and analyzing crime data across the United States

Overview

US Crime Review is a project that provides a public interface to more easily browse data and review trends on over 183 million incidents reported to the FBI’s National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) by over 17,000 law enforcement agencies across the United States.

I wrote it after I was surprised the FBI’s published data was in archaic formats, not easily accessible at-scale, and learning that the FBI’s Crime Data Explorer and similar tools intentionally only queried portions of all the existing data.
